Darek Seidel. Kitchen Islands. April 26th , 2020.
And according to a survey by the National Association of Home Builders more than 70% of buyers want an island in their kitchen, and of those, 50% consider it a must-have. Since it’s apparent that adding an island is a sound investment, we’ve gathered 60 of our favorite kitchen island ideas to use for inspiration.
From creating more counter space to adding additional seating, we’ve selected a few different kitchen island ideas that will help you get the most out of it. Choose one or combine multiple of the design elements below to create the feature that works best in your room.
For those of us who have small kitchen, consider an island cart. A kitchen island cart is a small island on wheels you can roll out and use for cooking or buffet storage and, as the name suggests, it can be rolled into and out of the way depending on your needs.
Eating at a kitchen island has become as common as cooking in the kitchen itself. Whether it’s a meal on the go or an intimate, lingering dinner for two, with the right design, the island can be both a convenient and beautiful place to dine. Rule #1: To add sophistication to the island, lower an area of the counter to normal table height. Your dining-chair options will open up tremendously, and you’ll have created a cozy nook to nosh.
According to Cost Owl, you can purchase a kitchen cart for around $200 and up, depending on the features and quality. Choosing a higher-end cart will significantly increase the price.
These carts have at least one side on wheels with storage space under the countertop. Some have drawers and cabinet space underneath. This type of kitchen island is practical and ideal for a kitchen area that is smaller but needs the additional counter space. It can easily be pushed to the side during entertainment or if table space is needed. This style won’t break the bank and is something that you can add to your kitchen this weekend.
When looking at modifying a kitchen, it is a good idea talk with a kitchen planner or a kitchen remodeler to help discover what might be possible.
